Write, print, and share clinic prescriptions
BOC’s prescriptions let a doctor write a numbered prescription on the patient file or in Dr. Room, on the web or in the BOC app, with a diagnosis, a validity period, and one line per medication. Your team prints it on a clean clinic sheet with your logo, opens WhatsApp with a link to the PDF, or shares the PDF from the app, and every prescription stays on the patient’s file.
What it does
A prescription in BOC belongs to the patient. Doctors write it from the Prescriptions tab on the customer file, or from the Prescriptions pane in Dr. Room while the patient is in the room, and both places show the same list. Each prescription gets its own number, built from the date, such as #202610230002, and an issue date.
The form starts with an optional Diagnosis and Valid for (days), set to 7 by default and open from 1 to 90. Under Medications, each line has the Medicine name, Dosage, Frequency, and Duration, with optional Route, Quantity, and Instructions, and placeholders such as 500mg, 3x daily, 7 days, and oral show the expected format. Add medication adds another line, and Notes holds extra notes for the pharmacist. Save Prescription files it on the patient.
Printing and sharing with the patient
Each prescription card shows the number, the issue date, a badge such as Valid 7 days or Expired, the diagnosis, every medication with its dosage, frequency, duration, route, quantity, and instructions, and the notes. The footer has Edit, Print, WhatsApp, and Delete: Edit and Delete follow their own permissions, and Print and WhatsApp are there for everyone who can view the prescription.
Print opens a clean prescription sheet with the clinic’s logo, name, address, phone, and email, the prescription number and date, and the patient’s name, date of birth with age, gender, and diagnosis, followed by an Rx section listing each medicine. The doctor’s name sits on the signature line, and the footer shows Valid until and Printed on. The sheet follows the screen language and prints right to left in Arabic. WhatsApp opens a chat with the patient’s number, country code included, and a message carrying the prescription number and a link to the PDF that stays valid for 7 days, ready for your team to send.
Prescriptions inside the doctor’s day
In Dr. Room the Prescriptions pane sits beside Visit vitals, Clinical snapshot, Notes, and Images & Files, so the doctor reads allergies and current medicines in the snapshot just before writing. The prescription is saved on the patient file, where reception and the next doctor find it later. In the BOC app for iPhone and Android, a prescription opens as a PDF preview with Share and Print, so the doctor can send the file to any app on the phone.
Clinics turn the feature on in Business Setup, Config, with Enable Prescriptions, which shows prescriptions on the patient file and in the doctor room. Permissions set who can read, add, edit, and delete prescriptions, with separate rights for the patient file and for Dr. Room, so a receptionist can print a prescription that only a doctor can write. Every new, edited, or deleted prescription is written to the Activity Log.
