Dental clinic software with a built-in dental chart

BOC for dental clinics is dental practice software that puts an FDI dental chart, a periodontal chart, and the treatment plan inside every patient file, next to the visits and payments. Reception books the chair, the dentist charts and treats in Dr. Room, and the cashier takes payment for the work done today.

From the chair to the chart

Switch on Enable Dentist Feature in Config and every patient file gets a Dental Chart tab. Choose FDI or Universal numbering and a Mouth set that matches the patient's age, from Primary dentition (0–5) to Permanent dentition (16+). Click a tooth to add a finding such as caries, a filling, a crown, or an implant, marked Confirmed, Suspected, or Unresolved, with a note.

Add multi-tooth finding records bridges with their abutments and pontic, implant-supported prostheses, space maintainers, and orthodontic brackets across the teeth they cover. The Periodontal Chart takes six sites per tooth with probing depth, bleeding on probing, recession, mobility, and furcation, and it marks pockets of 5 mm and above as deep.

Treatment plans and billing

Your procedure price list lives in Dental Service, grouped into twelve categories from Crowns and Bridges to Implants, and your dentists or chairs share the prices you set. Under the chart, History / Done Work, Preparing, and Treatment Plan / Remaining show what was done, what is in progress, and what is still planned, such as a porcelain crown on tooth 26. Small badges on each tooth count its done and planned work.

In Dr. Room, each dental item on the visit moves to Preparing and then to Done, and the dentist chooses to bill it now or when it is Done. The cashier shows due, paid, and remaining for the visit, and a long treatment can be paid in parts across several appointments, with the plan total and what remains on the patient file.

The chair, the team, and the phone

Each dental chair is a resource, such as Dental Chair 1, so the booking window keeps each chair to one patient at a time and the dashboard's By Resource table shows visits and revenue per chair. Dentists and assistants get their own roles: an assistant can read the chart while the dentist changes it.

Pre-approvals for crowns, implants, or root canals are tracked per visit on the patient's Insurance tab when you work with insurers. The same chart, findings, and periodontal screens open in the BOC app for iPhone and Android, so a dentist can check a tooth from a phone between patients.

How it works in BOC

  1. Turn on the dental chart. In Business Setup, Config, switch on Enable Dentist Feature. Every patient file then shows a Dental Chart tab.
  2. Price your procedures. Open Dental Service in Services and Pricing, enable the procedures you offer, and set a price for each.
  3. Add chairs and dentists. Create each chair as a resource and add your dentists and assistants in Team with their roles.
  4. Chart the patient. Open the Dental Chart tab, record findings tooth by tooth, and add the planned work.
  5. Treat and bill. Move each item to Preparing or Done in Dr. Room, and take the payment at the cashier.

Everyday challenges

Paper charts stay in a drawer

The FDI chart lives in the patient file on the web and in the app, beside the visits, notes, X-ray files, and payments.

Long treatments are hard to follow

Treatment Plan / Remaining lists the planned work per tooth, and History / Done Work keeps each finished procedure with its date.

Patients ask what they still owe

The cashier and the patient file show due, paid, and remaining for each visit, with the treatment plan total for dental visits.

Two people edit the same chart

When someone saved first, BOC shows the latest chart and asks you to review it before you save again.

Questions

Does BOC have a dental chart?

Yes. When the dental feature is on, every patient file has a Dental Chart tab with FDI or Universal numbering, findings on each tooth, a treatment plan, done work, and a periodontal chart. It works on the web and in the BOC app.

Can I chart children's teeth?

Yes. Pick a Mouth set from Primary dentition (0–5) through the mixed stages to Permanent dentition (16+), and add primary teeth 51 to 85 by number.

Does BOC include periodontal charting?

Yes. The Periodontal Chart records six sites per tooth: probing depth, bleeding on probing, recession, mobility (Miller 0–3), and furcation on molars (Hamp 0–3). Pockets of 4 mm are flagged, and 5 mm and above are marked deep.

How are dental procedures priced and billed?

Procedures and their prices come from the Dental Service catalog in Services and Pricing. In Dr. Room the dentist moves each item to Preparing or Done and chooses to bill it now or when it is Done, and the cashier shows the visit's due, paid, and remaining.

Can patients pay a long treatment in parts?

Yes. The cashier posts what the patient pays today and keeps the remaining balance on the visit. With Treatment Plan switched on for a service, the patient pays any amount at each visit and BOC carries the rest to the next appointment.

Can I track insurance pre-approvals for crowns or implants?

Yes. On the patient's Insurance tab, Add approval links a visit to an approval number, dates, and a status of pending, granted, rejected, or expired.

Does the dental chart work in the mobile app?

Yes. The chart, the findings, and the periodontal screens open on the patient file in the BOC app for iPhone and Android.
