Doctor room for your clinic’s daily visits

BOC’s Dr. Room is the doctor’s workspace, on the web and in the BOC app for iPhone and Android: it lists today’s appointments, who is waiting outside, and who is in the room, with the patient’s clinical file one click away. Doctors call the next patient in, record vitals, write notes and prescriptions, add photos and files, and finish the visit, while reception and the cashier see every step as it happens.

Dr. Room for Dr. Karim Youssef on 26/10/2026 with Sara Haddad’s visit open: Due, Paid, Remaining, and Planned, the Done and Get in room buttons, and Today appointments with six visits, their time, service, session, resource, price, and VIP.

What it does

Dr. Room opens on one practitioner’s day. At the top, View room for lets you pick the doctor and the date, with My room to come back to your own, and counters show Today, Waiting, and Done, the hours spent in the room and, for people with permission, the day’s revenue. Below sit three lists: Today appointments with the time, patient, service, session number, resource, price, and VIP flag; Waiting outside now with a live waiting-time counter on every patient; and Done today with the waiting time, time in room, the time the visit finished, and what the patient must pay and has paid.

Open a patient and the visit takes over the screen. Cards across the top show the name, the service with its room or device, gender, and VIP status. A payment strip shows Due, Paid, Remaining, and Planned, next to the Waiting time and In room time clocks and the Get in room, Done, and Send to waiting buttons. Under it, the workspace has panes for Visit vitals, Clinical snapshot, Notes, Prescriptions, and Images & Files, plus a Dental pane with Work for this visit when the visit is a dental one. While a patient is inside, a Currently in room banner shows the running time, and Take me there opens that visit from anywhere in the room.

Calling patients in and finishing the visit

Press In Room on a waiting patient, or Get in room on the open visit, and the in-room clock starts. Each doctor has one patient in the room at a time: if someone is already inside, BOC names them and asks before moving the new patient in, then marks the first visit Done. The first time a patient enters the room, BOC offers the visit vitals form right away, with a Skip button for quick visits.

When the doctor presses Done, a short chooser offers three paths: Edit and discount price, Add note for cashier, or Done. If the patient has to step out, for an X-ray for example, Send to waiting returns them to the queue with a Dr note that the cashier reads. After the room status changes, BOC opens Set Next Appointment so the follow-up visit is booked before the patient leaves. Each step also lands in the cashier’s Doctor Room alert list as it happens: the patient called in, the visit done with Collect payment, the Dr note, the patient sent back to waiting, and any price change.

Price changes and notes the cashier can read

With the right permission, the doctor opens Edit price from the room. Price for this visit changes this appointment only, and the next appointment goes back to the service price. Discount applies a percentage to this visit and the next sessions. Both take a Dr note, visible to cashier staff, so the front desk knows why the amount changed.

Dr. Room is switched on in Business Setup, Config, with Enable Doctor Room, and the same page turns Prescriptions and Visit Vitals on or off. Dr. Room has 32 permissions of its own in the role form, from Open Doctor Room and View Doctor Room Revenue to View Another Staff Member's Room, Edit Session Price, Edit Discount, and Edit Doctor Room After Day Close, with separate view, add, edit, and delete rights for notes, prescriptions, images, and files. The room works in English, Arabic, and French, and in a phone browser it fits a 390px screen, with the waiting time, the patient and service cards, and the money row in view.

How it works in BOC

  1. Choose the room and day. Pick the doctor under View room for, then the date. The Today, Waiting, and Done counters update for that room.
  2. Watch the waiting queue. Waiting outside now lists each patient with a live waiting time, so you see who has waited longest.
  3. Bring the patient in. Press In Room or Get in room. Record the visit vitals when BOC asks, or skip them.
  4. Work on the visit. Use the panes for vitals, the clinical snapshot, notes, prescriptions, and images and files.
  5. Finish and book the next visit. Press Done, choose a price change, a cashier note, or Done appointment, then set the next appointment.

Questions

What is the doctor room in BOC?

Dr. Room is the screen where a doctor or practitioner runs the day’s visits. It lists today’s appointments, who is waiting outside, and who is done, and it opens each visit with vitals, notes, prescriptions, and files. Reception and the cashier see the same room status.

Can a doctor see how long a patient has been waiting?

Yes. Every patient in Waiting outside now has a live waiting-time counter, and the open visit shows Waiting time and In room time. The Done today list keeps both times after the visit ends.

Can a manager view another doctor’s room?

Yes, with the View Another Staff Member's Room permission. View room for lets managers switch between doctors and pick another date, while each doctor sees their own room.

Can the doctor change the price of a visit?

Yes, when their role allows it. Edit price offers a price for this visit only, or a discount for this visit and the next sessions, each with a Dr note that the cashier can read.

What happens when a doctor sends a patient back to waiting?

The patient returns to Waiting outside now and the waiting clock starts again. BOC asks for a short Dr note, such as a request for an X-ray, and the cashier sees it on the visit.

Does Dr. Room work on a phone?

Yes. The BOC app for iPhone and Android has its own Dr. Room, with the staff picker, the waiting queue, vitals, the clinical snapshot, notes, images and files, the dental pane, and the Done chooser. In a phone browser, the room fits a 390px screen and keeps a bottom bar to move between Dr. Room, Calendar, Cashier, and File.

How do I turn on the doctor room?

Go to Business Setup, open Config, and switch on Enable Doctor Room. The same page has the switches for Prescriptions and Visit Vitals.
