Before and after photos on every patient file

BOC’s before and after photos live on the Images & Files tab of each patient file, next to lab results and other documents, on the web and in the BOC app. Every image and file shows when it was added and who added it, photos can come straight from a phone camera, iPhone HEIC pictures included, and doctors can add or open them from Dr. Room during the visit.

Hala Mohamed's Images & Files tab: a before photo of forearm sun spots and an after photo following 3 peel sessions, each with its date, who added it, and Download, Edit, and Delete, above a lab result under Files.

What it does

Images & Files is a tab on every customer file, with two parts. Images shows photo cards with a preview, the name you gave the photo, such as Before visit or After visit, the date and time it was added, and the staff member who added it. Files lists PDFs and documents, such as a lab result, with the same details.

Click a photo to open it full size in a viewer with a Download button. Each card also has Download, Edit to rename it, and Delete, shown according to the user’s role. In the BOC app, the full-screen viewer adds pinch zoom up to four times and Share, so a photo can go to the patient from the phone. The same Images & Files pane sits inside Dr. Room, so the doctor adds the before photo at the start of a session and the after photo at the end while staying on the visit.

Adding photos and documents

Press Add next to Images or Files, give the item a name, and choose the file. The patient file and the Dr. Room pane accept JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, and iPhone HEIC photos, plus PDF, DOC, and DOCX documents, with room for full-size camera photos, and the Dr. Room pane also takes drag and drop. On a phone, adding an item offers Gallery, Camera, or File, so a nurse can take the photo straight from the treatment room and see a preview before saving; the BOC app offers Gallery or Camera for images and takes PDF, DOC, and DOCX files.

Because each photo carries the name you choose and the date it was added, a series such as Before visit and After visit reads in order on the file. A clinic that names photos by area and session, for example Underarms session 1 before, builds a photo history that any colleague can follow months later, and the lab results sit one section below.

Who sees the photos

Patient photos are sensitive, so BOC uses separate permissions to view, add, edit, and delete images, and another set for files. A receptionist can upload a lab report while treatment photos stay visible only to the doctors, if that is how you set up the roles. Dr. Room has its own image and file permissions for the room screen.

Every item records who added it, which helps when several doctors and nurses share one patient. When a client moves to another doctor, the photos and files stay on the client’s file, so the new doctor opens the same history from the first visit.

How it works in BOC

  1. Open the patient file. Find the client under File and open the Images & Files tab, or open the visit in Dr. Room.
  2. Add the before photo. Press Add next to Images, name it, for example Before visit, and choose the photo or take it with the phone camera.
  3. Attach documents. Press Add next to Files to attach a lab result PDF or a Word document.
  4. Add the after photo. At the end of the session, add the after photo the same way.
  5. Open or download. Click any photo to view it full size, or use Download to save a copy.
The before photo opened full size from Hala Mohamed's file, marked Before · Demo sample, with Download below it.
In Dr. Room, the Images & Files pane of Sara Haddad's laser visit shows her before photo from session 1 and her after photo from session 6, under the drop zone for new files.

Who it is for

Dermatology and laser Laser and skin clinics photograph the treated area before and after each session and keep the series on the file.

Dental clinics Dental clinics keep smile photos, X-ray files, and lab documents with the patient.

Clinics Clinics attach lab results and referral letters to the patient file in place of a paper folder.

Beauty salons Beauty centres show clients their before and after photos at the next visit to agree on the next step.

Private coaches Coaches add progress photos from the phone camera, so each client's change over the weeks is easy to show.

Questions

Can BOC store before and after photos?

Yes. Each patient file has an Images & Files tab where staff add before and after photos with a name, and BOC records the date and the person who added each one.

Can I upload lab results and PDFs?

Yes. The Files section of the same tab takes PDF, DOC, and DOCX files, such as lab results, and shows when each was added and by whom.

Can I take photos with my phone?

Yes. When you add an image from a phone, BOC offers Gallery or Camera, so you can take the photo on the spot and save it to the patient file. iPhone photos in HEIC upload as they are.

Which photo and file formats does BOC accept?

Photos in JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, and HEIC or HEIF, the format iPhones use, plus PDF, DOC, and DOCX for documents. The same formats work on the patient file and in Dr. Room.

Can the doctor add photos during the visit?

Yes. Dr. Room has an Images & Files pane for the patient in the room, with drag and drop for photos and documents.

Who can see patient photos?

Only people whose role allows it. BOC has separate permissions to view, add, edit, and delete images and files, on the patient file and in Dr. Room.

Can I rename or download a photo?

Yes. Every card has Download, and users with permission also see Edit to rename the item and Delete to remove it. In the BOC app, the photo viewer adds pinch zoom and Share.
