Staff commission for services, packages, and products

BOC's staff commission lets you set commission rules for each employee on the Entitlements tab in HR, as a percent or a fixed amount, for services, packages, and products. When a visit is Done and paid, a package payment comes in, or a paid product sale is recorded, BOC adds the commission to that person's ledger, notifies them, and makes it due on their payday. Managers pay it from Pay an employee on the web, at the cashier, or in the BOC app, and employees follow it in My HR.

A Commission rule for Dr. Karim Youssef on Entitlements: Source Service, Calc Percent, a Rate of 15%, narrowed to Laser Hair Removal on Diode Laser B, in USD from 26/10/2026, ready to Save.

What it does

Commission rules live on the Entitlements tab in HR. Choose the employee, set Action to Commission rule, and pick the Source: Service, Package, or Product. Under Calc, choose Percent or Fixed once, then type the Rate. Narrow a service rule to one Service, one Resource such as a laser device, or both; a package rule to one Package; and a product rule to one Product. Set the currency, USD or LBP, and the start date, press Save, and the rule appears under Current rules marked In effect. Writing rules needs the Manage HR Requests and View Payroll permissions.

Each source pays in its own way. For a service, BOC adds the commission when the visit is Done and has a posted payment: a percent rule pays that percent of what was paid for the visit, and a fixed rule pays the fixed amount once for that visit. For a package, a percent rule pays that percent of each positive payment, and a fixed rule pays the full amount once, on the first positive payment; Package commission beneficiary names the team member who receives it. For a product, a percent rule pays that percent of the paid sale line, and a fixed rule pays the amount for each unit sold, to the staff member on that line.

Commission follows what the clinic really keeps. If a Done visit is undone, its commission is reversed. If a product sale is voided or refunded, its commission is reversed too. A refunded package payment takes back the matching share under a percent rule, and a fixed package commission is taken back when its payment is refunded in full. When the commission was already paid, the reversal is netted from the next payout.

The most specific rule wins

A person can have a general rule and more specific ones, for example 10 percent on all services, 15 percent on one laser service, and 20 percent on that service on one laser device. For each visit, BOC applies the most specific rule that matches, once, and the general rule steps aside for that visit. Saving a second rule with the same source and the same narrowing is refused with the message Two commission rules are equally specific, so each visit pays one rule.

On the same screen, a Product goal sets a Target and a Bonus with From and To dates for the people who sell products. When the person's product sales reach the target, BOC adds the bonus to their ledger once. If a sale is reversed and their sales fall back below the target, the bonus is taken back.

From the ledger to the payout

Each commission line follows the payday set under Base pay and payday. Until then it shows as Not due yet, and on payday it moves to Available now. On the employee's HR file, managers with View Payroll open the Commissions, Products, and Entitlements sections line by line. Reports filters the ledger by From and To dates, employee, and Report type Commission, draws a bar per type, and exports it with Export CSV.

On payday, open Pay an employee, choose the Type Commission, the employee, and the currency, check the Amount owed and the Suggested amount, press Pay, and confirm. Approved deductions are netted from what is paid. The payment is recorded as a branch expense for that day, and the employee and the payroll managers get a notification. Paying commission needs the Pay Commission permission, and the clinic switches on Employee payouts in Business Setup, Config. The same payout form sits in the cashier's expenses for people allowed to pay.

The BOC app for iPhone and Android carries the same work for managers: Entitlements to write rules, Pay an employee to pay commission, and Ledger to share the ledger as a CSV file. Employees see their side in My HR on the phone or the web: a Summary per currency with Available now, Not due yet, Paid, and Remaining, their payments under Payments & payslips, and Request entitlement payout when they want what is available.

How it works in BOC

  1. Open Entitlements. In HR, open Entitlements and choose the employee.
  2. Pick Commission rule. Set Action to Commission rule and choose Service, Package, or Product as the source.
  3. Set the rate. Choose Percent or Fixed once, type the rate, and narrow it to a service, a resource, a package, or a product.
  4. Save the rule. Set the currency and the start date and press Save. The rule shows under Current rules.
  5. Let visits and sales add up. Done and paid visits, package payments, and paid product sales add commission lines to the person's ledger.
  6. Pay on payday. In Pay an employee, choose Commission, check the amount owed, press Pay, and confirm.
Pay an employee with Type Commission for Nour Ibrahim: 120.00 USD owed and 120.00 USD suggested, the amount and currency, and the Pay button, with accumulated, not due yet, available, paid, and remaining below.

Questions

Does BOC calculate staff commission automatically?

Yes. Once a rule is saved on Entitlements, BOC adds commission when a visit is Done and paid, when a package payment comes in, or when the employee's product sale is paid. The amount goes to that person's ledger and they get a notification.

Can I pay a percent on packages paid in installments?

Yes. A percent package rule pays that percent of each positive payment. A fixed package rule pays the full amount once, on the first positive payment.

How is commission on product sales calculated?

A percent rule pays that percent of the paid sale line, and a fixed rule pays the amount for each unit sold. The commission goes to the staff member on the sale line, and a Product goal can add a bonus when their sales reach a target.

What if two commission rules match the same visit?

The most specific rule wins and applies once. A second rule with the same source and the same narrowing is refused when you save it, with the message Two commission rules are equally specific.

When does commission become payable?

On the employee's payday, set under Base pay and payday. Before that, it appears as Not due yet in My HR and on the payout screen.

Who can set and pay commission?

Writing rules needs Manage HR Requests and View Payroll. Paying needs Pay Commission, from Pay an employee or the cashier's expenses, once the clinic has switched on Employee payouts. The payment is recorded as a branch expense for that day.

Can employees see their commission?

Yes. My HR shows Available now, Not due yet, Paid, and Remaining for each currency, on the phone or the web, and each new commission line and each payment sends them a notification.

Can I manage commission from the mobile app?

Yes. In the BOC app for iPhone and Android, managers open HR to write rules in Entitlements, pay in Pay an employee, and share the ledger as CSV from Ledger.
